What the law adds to pay
- 13th month pay: at least 1/12 of the basic salary earned in the year, paid by December 24.
- Night shift differential: at least 10% more for work between 10 PM and 6 AM.
- Overtime: at least 25% more per hour, or 30% more on a rest day or holiday.
- Rest day and holiday work: 30% more on a rest day; 200% on a regular holiday.
13th month pay and other bonuses are tax-free up to ₱90,000 a year in total.
Employer costs on top of salary
The employer also pays its share of government contributions every month. At the highest salary levels, that comes to about ₱6,230 a month:
| Contribution | Employer’s share | Monthly maximum |
|---|---|---|
| SSS | 10% of the monthly salary credit (up to ₱35,000) | ₱3,500 |
| PhilHealth | 2.5% of basic salary (up to ₱100,000) | ₱2,500 |
| Pag-IBIG | 2% of up to ₱10,000 | ₱200 |
| Employees’ Compensation | ₱10 or ₱30, by salary credit | ₱30 |
